Pilot becomes first active-duty Air Force officer to be crowned Miss America

Marsh won the title of Miss Colorado last year.

Active-duty Air Force officer Madison Marsh was crowned Miss America on Sunday night.

Marsh won the title of Miss Colorado last year.

"Congratulations to our very own #Airman, 2nd Lt. Madison Marsh, aka Miss Colorado — who was just crowned @MissAmerica 2024! Marsh is the first active duty service member to ever win the title," the U.S. Air Force wrote on the social media platform, X.

Miss Texas was awarded first runner-up.

Besides being a 2nd lieutenant in the Air Force, Marsh is also a graduate intern at Harvard Medical School, according to the New York Post.

The 22-year-old is studying public policy at Harvard's Kennedy School. 

Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade praised Marsh on X.

"Madison, the @CityofCOS wishes you great success," he wrote. "You have inspired countless young girls to dream big and reach for the stars. Congratulations!"
