Democrats have 'hatred' for black conservatives, says Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears

Democrats have "hatred" for black conservatives, says Virginia Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears.
For Democrats "to continue to win, they need to get 80 to 90% of the black vote," Sears said in an interview with conservative columnist Cal Thomas. "That's why they are so full of hatred when conservatives like me, or libertarians, don't think the way they do."
A former Marine and the first black female to be elected to statewide office in Virginia, Sears was part of a "red wave" in the state in 2021 that swept her to power along with Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares.
Sears noted the irony that some on the left try to smear her as a "white supremacist" for her pro-life views.
"The Democrat Party became synonymous with black people," even as Democrats "were the ones who were keeping us from achieving." Sears said. "Then there's this other thing that is happening with black women not having their babies. And they call me a white supremacist for saying we want more black babies. Democrats have to make up their minds."
Before being elected lieutenant governor, Sears was the national chairman for Black Americans to Re-Elect Trump. She touted Trump's accomplishments during the interview, recalling that "black entrepreneurship increased to about 400% of where it had been" during his presidency.
Thomas asked if she would endorse Trump if he ran for president in 2024. "I'm going to hold my fire," she answered. "I want to see what he says, what he does and who else is out there."
