U.S. stocks open low, after moderate rebound yesterday
After a decade, the bull market is ending
The Dow fell 700 points at opening Wednesday morning, handing back a large part of Tuesday’s 1,100-point recovery.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 2.8%, indicating the markets are headed for another tumultuous day of trading.
According to Goldman Sachs analysts, the bull market in S&P 500 stocks is ending after an 11-year run.
U.S. stock futures were down this morning about 1.9%, indicating a low opening for Wall Street.
European stock indexes slightly increased as the Bank of England ordered a rate cut, following the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut last week.
Seema Shah, chief strategist at Principal Global Investors, told the Wall Street Journal that the most important step the British government has taken is employing “the targeted liquidity measures for small business.”
Japan’s Nikkei 225 index saw a low close, having dipped 2.3% to its lowest level since 2018. Australia entered a bear market, meaning down at least 20% from a recent peak.
