Americans on the whole appear to view internal problems facing the United States as greater threats to the country than international disputes or the prosect of war amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the latest Scott Rasmussen National Survey, 22% of registered voters identified the economy as "the greatest threat to America." A further 12% identified President Joe Biden and the Democrats while 5% said former President Donald Trump and the GOP. Nine percent said "America itself."

Other prominent answers included guns/crime (8%), immigration (8%), and climate change (5%). Twelve precent identified "war/international" as the greatest threat.

The results seems to suggest that Americans are much more concerned with stateside matters and the administration and presidential candidates seek to bolster support for Ukraine in its war with Russia.

President Joe Biden, meanwhile, has since the public sour somewhat on his job performance since last month, with his approval rating sliding three points to 40%. A further 55% disapproved of him.

The Scott Rasmussen National Survey provided the following statement on its methodology:

This CounterpollingTM survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on July 10-11, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet

usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of Registered Voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points. This survey was paid for by RMG Research, Inc. as part of the service provided for our Gold Circle Members.
