Trump tells Bitcoin conference America will be 'crypto capital' to uproarious applause
Trump promised to fire the crypto-skeptic SEC Chairman and create a crypto advisory council
Former President Donald Trump delivered a well-received speech on Saturday at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference. He promised to make the U.S. "the crypto capital of the planet" at the event in Nashville, Tennessee.
Trump received a warm greeting from crowds gathered on the streets of Nashville, The Daily Wire reported. An estimated 20,000 people attended the three-day conference, which also featured independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
"Bitcoin stands for freedom, sovereignty, and independence from government," Trump told attendees.
Trump criticized Democrats for "targeting" cryptocurrency and promised "on day one" to fire SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, who has criticized Bitcoin as "rife with fraud" and pushed for greater regulation of cryptocurrency.
Trump also promised to establish a crypto advisory council on the first day of his administration.
