Four killed, a dozen injured as tornadoes rip through Michigan

The tornado was part of an outbreak of violent weather that stretched from Texas to the Great Lakes.

Violent weather ripped through the Midwest on Friday, including tornadoes in Michigan that killed four and injured at least a dozen. 

Sheriff Frederick Blankenship of Branch County, Mich., told the New York Times that a tornado touched down in Union City, a village near Kalamazoo, Mich.

Three were killed and many of the injured were taken to hospitals, officials said.

.“It is completely devastating,” said Jennifer Nagel, the assistant village manager of Union City.

In nearby Cass County, one person was killed by a tornado that touchdown near Edwardsburg, Mich., Sheriff Clint Roach said.
