Humberto’s rhythm with Imelda could save Carolinas

ategory 4 Hurricane Humberto, about 365 miles north-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands at 11 a.m. Saturday, is expected to strengthen its 145 mph maximum sustained winds through the weekend. Its pull could be enough to interact with Tropical Cyclone Nine – the possible soon to be Hurricane Imelda – in the Atlantic Ocean and thwart major damage in North and South Carolina.

Virginia posts $21B surplus in new report

Virginia was one of 25 states with enough money to meet its obligations. The ranking placed it ahead of North Carolina, which was 17th, and West Virginia, which was 15th. Tennessee ranked in the top five. New Jersey came in last with a $44,500 shortfall per taxpayer.
