Grand Canyon officials confirmed Monday that two people are dead after a devastating flash flood swamped the national park over the weekend, and more than a dozen people are still missing.

At least 62 people were evacuated from Phantom Ranch and the lower North Kaibab Trail on Saturday after massive flooding, and extensive damage was reported, including footbridges along Bright Angel Creek. 

Rescue crews are still looking for more than a dozen tourists who are missing after the heavy downpour, according to the Associated Press, but the body of a 46-year-old man was recovered Sunday evening near Crystal Rapids along the Colorado River. A second body was also recovered but park officials have not identified the individual.

Officials have barred tourists from staying at the park's lodges and hotels and issued emergency water restrictions for year-round residents.

Forecasters warned Monday that more flooding is possible this week amid monsoon season in the park.
