San Francisco 49ers player put on injury list after shooting, out at least four games
Ricky Pearsall, who was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in San Francisco on Saturday, will be on the injured list for approximately four weeks, and miss the first four games of the season.
The San Francisco 49ers on Monday placed a rookie wide receiver on their reserve/non-football injury list, after he was shot in the chest over the weekend.
Ricky Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery at Union Square in San Francisco on Saturday, and was hospitalized overnight. He was released on Sunday in good spirits, according to the NFL.
"[Pearsall] and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical department, doctors, and staff at San Francisco general hospital," the team said in a statement.
The wide receiver, who was the 31st pick during the 2024 draft, is expected to miss four games, and will be on the injury list for approximately four weeks. The new injury comes after he hurt his shoulder during the preseason, and only returned to practice last week.
The regular season will begin on Thursday, with the Baltimore Ravens facing the Kansas City Chiefs. San Francisco's first match will take place on Monday, Sept. 9, against the New York Jets.
