The Austin City Council passed a resolution that seeks to make it harder for the state of Texas to enforce a law that bans gender-affirming care for minors.

The resolution recommends, according to FOX7, that the city not use any funds to investigate transgender healthcare and makes enforcement of S.B. 14 the lowest priority for Austin police.

"While the state has chosen to bully our trans friends, family, and neighbors to score political points, the City of Austin will not,” Austin council member Zo Qadri said.

Council member Mackenzie Kelly, who voted against the measure, said the bill undermines communication and cooperation between state and local law enforcement, while directing city police to act in conflict with state law.
