Border Patrol union leader says Biden border policies push migrants into cartel hands

National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd on Monday blamed the Biden administration's policies for pushing migrants to "put themselves in the hands of criminal cartels."

Judd also told "Just the News – Not Noise" that, while President Joe Biden is "pandering to the open border activists," Republicans will secure the border when they are back in power.

His comments come after Border Patrol agents encountered a record number of more than 234,000 migrants at the southern border last month. Agents have reportedly been told to prepare to encounter up to 18,000 migrants a day within the next few months.

"It's the most inhumane thing that I've ever seen in my life," Judd said.

"In fact, the rule of law is what's humane. The rule of law is what protects people," the union president noted. "If we actually apply and apply the rule of law, these people will not put themselves in the hands of the criminal cartels."

Vulnerable migrants are often raped, physically abused, and murdered by the same cartels whom they trust to help smuggle them into the United States, Judd explained.

The left's policies are "very inhumane and very disingenuous... because in reality, it is their policies that are putting people in harm's way," Judd stressed.

He blamed congressional Republicans for not securing the border when President Donald Trump was in office.

Trump "had to go in alone and develop policies that allowed us to do more on the border than we've ever done in the history of the Border Patrol," Judd said, adding, "We dropped illegal immigration to 45 year lows."

While it was "disappointing" to see Republicans not act on strengthening the border, Judd said he thinks the GOP will respond differently after gaining control of the government due to the outcry from the American people.

A Louisiana judge issued a ruling on Friday forcing the Biden administration to temporarily maintain Title 42, the Trump-era public health immigration measure.

If the White House ultimately prevails in the case, Judd predicted that ending Title 42 is "not going to drop the numbers of people that are crossing the border illegally."

He said that while the judge's ruling "shines a spotlight on the issue," Biden "allows too many people from too many countries to be exempted from Title 42."
