Four people confirmed dead in Florida's St. Lucie County amid Hurricane Milton

The storm has resulted in roughly three million people having no power and widespread flooding.

Four people have been confirmed four dead in Florida's St. Lucie County in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, which hit the state's Gulf Coast on Wednesday night as a Category 3 storm.

The deaths were confirmed Thursday morning, as the storm moved off the state's central-east coast, by the county medical examiner's office,  according to CNN.

The office also said two confirmed tornados hit the region.=

The storm has resulted in widespread flooding and roughly 3 million people losing electricity . The hurricane started out as a Category 5 storm but has since been downgraded to a Category 1,

Multiple tornadoes have also broken out across the state. 

St. Lucie County spokesperson Erick Gill told CNN that some of the deaths happened in a mobile home park.

"We had crews in there getting those residents that may have been displaced into temporary shelter, those that needed medical assistance and getting them to hospital facilities,” he told the outlet.
