Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that the Lone Star State would be sending resources to help North Carolina with search and rescue operations as a result of Hurricane Helene.

"We have sent Texas Task Force 1 to North Carolina to assist with search and rescue operations related to Hurricane #Helene," Abbott wrote on the social media platform, X.

Hurricane Helene has greatly impacted states in the southeast, including Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Western North Carolina has taken a tremendous hit, with a village in Asheville being underwater and many homes destroyed.

"We remain in contact with their emergency operations to provide any assistance needed. Texas helps our fellow Americans," Abbott wrote.

Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that the Sunshine State was also sending resources to North Carolina.

"We have dispatched a convoy of @MyFDOT staff and heavy equipment, including 7,500 feet of temporary bridges, to North Carolina to help with damage assessments and roadway repairs," DeSantis wrote on X.
