Michigan house explosion leaves four dead, officials say
The bodies of four people killed in the explosion were recovered.
Officials are investigating a home explosion in Michigan that left four people dead and two others injured.
Police and fire departments from Northfield Township responded shortly after 3:30 p.m. local time Saturday following multiple calls of a large explosion just east of Whitmore Lake, according to local outlet MLive.
First responders found a home had exploded, sparking several nearby fires, Huron Valley Ambulance spokesman Marc Breckenridge said.
The bodies of four people killed in the explosion were recovered, according to Breckenridge. Two other people on the scene were transported to a hospital in critical condition after suffering from severe injuries.
Breckenridge said that first responders are "being very meticulous about making sure there are no additional people to rescue inside the residence."
A video taken by a local ABC affiliate helicopter shows debris scattered over a wide area as the home's basement is exposed.
The explosion's cause is still under investigation.
