WATCH: Pilots eject mid-air from exploding fighter jet at Michigan air show
The MiG-23 hit unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
Two pilots ejected from a MiG-23 Russian fighter jet as it exploded in mid-air during the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show at Willow Run Airport near Ann Arbor.
The jet crashed around 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Belleville, Mich., the Wayne County Airport Authority said.
The pilots ejected from the plane and parachuted into Belleville Lake, the Federal Aviation Administration said, according to CNN.
The pilot and the backseater did not appear to have sustained significant injuries, but they were still transported to a local hospital out of precaution, airport officials said.
The MiG-23 hit unoccupied vehicles in the apartment complex's parking lot, and no one there nor at the air show was injured.
The FAA is probing the crash.
