Scientists in China have allegedly developed an artificial intelligence system that can deploy charges against criminal suspects with a high degree of accuracy.
Researchers with the Shanghai Pudong Procuratorate developed the system, according to the Epoch Times, with the machine "able to identify and file charges for the eight most common crimes in Shanghai," including theft, reckless driving and others.
The news service reported so-called AI "prosecutor" can file a charge with 97% accuracy.
“The system can replace prosecutors in the decision-making process to a certain extent,” one of the lead scientists on the project said this month in a paper in the peer-reviewed Management Review.
