Twitter reinstates Mike Lee after brief suspension
Twitter CEO Elon Musk later indicated that Lee's personal account had been suspended in error.
Social media giant Twitter reversed a short-lived suspension on Utah GOP Sen. Mike Lee's personal account on Wednesday.
Lee announced his suspension via his official account, @SenMikeLeee, saying "My personal Twitter account – @BasedMikeLee – has been suspended. Twitter did not alert me ahead of time, nor have they yet offered an explanation for the suspension. My team and I are seeking answers."
Hours later, Lee regained access to his @BasedMikeLee account by mid-afternoon, announcing his return via that handle.
"Thanks to all who assisted in operation #Free@basedMikeLee. Still no explanation from @Twitter as to what happened," he posted.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk later indicated that Lee's personal account had been suspended in error.
"His personal account (@BasedMikeLee) was incorrectly flagged as impersonation, which is not totally crazy, since it is based," Musk explained.
Lee then thanked Musk is a celebratory post including a photo of himself in digital sunglasses.
