Tom Brady reportedly set to retire after more than 20 seasons in NFL
Decision has not been officially confirmed by legendary quarterback.
Legendary Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is reportedly set to retire after 22 record-smashing seasons in the NFL, according to media reports.
The news, which had yet to be acknowledged by Brady on Saturday afternoon, was apparently confirmed by Brady's former teammate Julian Edelman on Twitter on Saturday.
"Thanks for the memories, babe," Edelman tweeted in what commentators took as a reference to Brady's retirement.
Brady played for the New England Patriots for 20 years before spending the last two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led both teams to Super Bowl titles—the Patriots seven times, the Bucs once—and holds numerous NFL quarterback records, including yards passed and touchdown passes.
Widely hailed as the greatest quarterback of all time, Brady was the oldest player to ever have been named NFL MVP, at age 40. He is married to the Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
