Virginia has been crowned the most patrioitic state in the nation while Florida was dubbed near the bottom at No. 46, according to the financial website WalletHub.

Montana, Alaska, North Dakota and Maine rounded out the top 5 most patriotic, while New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Arkansas finished at Nos. 47-50, respectively.

The study's methodology compared all 50 U.S. states with one another using “Military Engagement” and “Civic Engagement" as its two primary dimensions, and "evaluated those dimensions using 13 relevant metrics" within the two categories.

The categories ranged from the "state’s military enlistees and veterans to the share of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita," the website stated.

"Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the highest level of patriotism," it added.

Relevant data for the study was gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Veteran Affairs and seven other institutes and organizations.

Among red-voting versus blue-voting states in the 2020 presidential election, the study showed Democratic states took a slight edge by 0.6 points.
