Bill O'Reilly says it's impressive that DA Bragg managed to make Trump look sympathetic
'You really have to go quite a way to make Donald Trump a victim,' O'Reilly said.
Well known journalist and commentator Bill O'Reilly said that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is doing a good job making Trump a victim and someone to sympathize with in the midst of his indictment and arraignment.
"Short term, this helps Trump," O'Reilly said on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "You really have to go quite a way to make Donald Trump a victim. I mean, you really have to take a long journey to do that. But they managed to do it."
Former President Donald Trump earlier this week pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records and conspiracy related to his alleged role in hush money payments to two women.
He is the first former president to ever face criminal charges. Alvin Bragg is the Manhattan district attorney leading the case against the former president.
O'Reilly said that this recent indictment and arraignment will give Trump a slight boost in the political polls.
"In the short term, Trump will get a pop in the polls and fundraising," he stated. "He needs the fundraising to pay his lawyers."
He also said that this may get independents on Trump's side temporarily.
"There are independents going, 'look, I may not like the man. But this is absurd. This is dangerous to our democracy. So I'm going to support him,'" O'Reilly concluded.
