FBI to interview Trump on assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump will sit for an interview with the FBI to discuss the assassination attempt against him that occurred earlier this month in Butler, Penn.

“As part of our normal investigative process, we regularly interview victims of crime to offer our support and learn more about their perspective regarding their experience,” said Pittsburgh Field Office Special Agent in Charge Kevin Rojek, according to Politico. "To that end, we have contacted former President Trump and he has agreed to participate in the victim interview."

The July 13 assassination attempt saw gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks inflict a gunshot wound to Trump's right ear during the rally. He further killed attendee Corey Comperatore and wounded several others.

Crooks himself was killed during the incident.

News of Trump's interview follows the former president criticizing FBI Director Christopher Wray for appearing to suggest he may not have been injured by a bullet.

“Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn't sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!), but he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively 'uneventful,'” Trump posted on Truth Social last week. "Wrong!"

"No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard. There was no glass, there was no shrapnel. The hospital called it a 'bullet wound to the ear,' and that is what it was. No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America," he also said.

The FBI confirmed in a statement that Trump was struck with a bullet after Wray's testimony.
