New York police quietly prepare to revoke Trump's license to carry after conviction: Report
The NYPD legal bureau is conducting the investigation into Trump's license to carry, which is illegal for convicted felons in New York. His license was quietly suspended last year, after he was charged in the hush money case. Two of the three guns on his license were turned over to NYPD at the time, and the third was moved to Florida.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) is preparing to revoke former President Donald Trump's license to carry guns in the state, according to a news report on Wednesday, now that he has been convicted on 34 felony charges.
Trump was convicted last week of 34 felony charges related to falsifying his business records to hide a hush money payment to former porn star Stormy Daniels. He has vowed to appeal the verdict, but will be sentenced on July 11.
The NYPD legal bureau is conducting the investigation into Trump's license to carry, according to CNN, since it is illegal for convicted felons in New York. His license was quietly suspended last year, after he was charged in the hush money case. Two of the three guns on his license were turned over to NYPD at the time, and the third was moved to Florida.
If Trump is still in possession of the third gun in Florida then he could have violated federal and state laws. A senior police official told CNN that the investigation "will likely lead to revocation of his license."
Trump is allowed to repeal the revocation if his license is pulled. He has had the license for more than a decade, according to unnamed sources, including while he was president, even though he will always be protected by the United States Secret Service.
