President Donald Trump claimed in a social media post Friday night that Iran planned to take over the Middle East and eliminate Israel, which is now futile after the United States and Israel attacked the country.

The comment comes after the president urged Iran to surrender now that its military is allegedly depleted from the onslaught of Israeli and American missiles, and vowed that Iran would "never have a nuclear weapon."

"Iran had plans of taking over the entire Middle East, and completely obliterating Israel," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Just like Iran itself, those plans are now dead."

The United States launched a joint operation with Israel last month, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, which is a joint operation with Israel that targets Iran. The operation began last month.

It also comes after the U.S. carried out a large bombing raid on Iran's Kharg Island, which is a major oil export hub for the Middle Eastern country.
