President Donald Trump said Friday that a change in Iranian leadership would be the "best thing that could happen" as tensions between the United States and the Middle Eastern country remain high.

The president made the comment when asked about pushing for a regime change in Iran shortly after visiting Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Trump also confirmed earlier Friday that he is deploying a second aircraft carrier group to the Middle East.

“It seems like that would be the best thing that could happen,” Trump told reporters, according to the Associated Press. “For 47 years, they’ve been talking and talking and talking.”
