President Donald Trump confirmed Tuesday that he will be speaking at the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Association dinner in Washington, D.C., next month.

CBS News White House Correspondent Weijia Jiang on Monday contacted members of the WHCA to inform them of the new dinner, which will take place on July 24.

Trump said in a Truth Social post that the dinner will take place at the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Ave., which used to be the Trump International Hotel, and Jiang told reporters that there will be enhanced safety measures and new access procedures at the new location.

"I was asked to be there, and speak, by Weijia Jiang, President of The White House Correspondents’ Association, and have accepted," Trump wrote on the social media platform. "I don’t know whether or not I will give the same rather nasty statements, at least as it concerns certain people, but we will soon find out. In any event, it will be a 'HOT' ticket!"

The move comes after the initial dinner in April was disrupted by an assassination attempt against the president.

The April event took place at a Hilton hotel in Washington, D.C., but ended abruptly after suspect Cole Allen allegedly stormed the security checkpoint and discharged his weapon before being apprehended. He has pleaded not guilty.
