President-elect Donald Trump is expected to appoint the head of his protective detail to become the new director of the Secret Service.

Multiple news reports Friday say Trump wants to replace acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe with Sean Curran.

Sources told ABC News that while the agency hasn't been notified about any change, officials in the Secret Service are assuming Rowe will be replaced.

Rowe became the director after Kimberly Cheatle resigned shortly after the assassination attempt in July 2024 on Trump's life in Butler County, Pennsylvania.

A source told CNN that Curran was pushing for more security resources before Trump was shot in the ear last year.

Curran's name has reportedly been mentioned as an option for weeks.
