President Donald Trump announced Friday he will pardon baseball legend Pete Rose.

“Over the next few weeks I will be signing a complete PARDON of Pete Rose, who shouldn’t have been gambling on baseball, but only bet on HIS TEAM WINNING. He never betted against himself, or the other team,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform

Trump also criticized Major League Baseball for barring the all-time hitter from the Baseball Hall of Fame over his gambling activities, despite the player’s record.

Rose was banned from the game for life after admitting in 2004 that he had bet on games, but never his own games, ESPN reported. In 2015, Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred rejected Rose’s request to be reinstated. Rose passed away last year at 83.
