Trump says he likes the concept of a woman VP, but will pick the best person
Trump added that he hadn't given much thought to who his running mate would be.
Former President Donald Trump said in a recent interview that while he likes the "concept" of a female vice president, he will pick the best person for the job.
NBC's “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker asked Trump in a Thursday interview if he would consider picking a woman for vice president.
“I like the concept, but we’re going to pick the best person,” he answered. “But I do like the concept, yes.”
Trump added that he hadn't given much thought to who his running mate would be.
The former president is currently the frontrunner in all of the GOP presidential primary polls for 2024.
During the interview, Trump was asked if he would possibly consider South Dakota GOP Gov. Kristi Noem for vice president. Noem endorsed Trump at a rally earlier this month.
“Certainly she’d be one of the people I’d consider, or for something else maybe," he responded. "But we have a lot of people. We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party."
He said that she was a "great governor" and he was thankful for her endorsement.
