Trump says that the U.S. will be hitting Iran 'very hard' and taking control of their oil markets
By taking Kharg Island, Trump said, the U.S. would be to take over Iran's oil and gas markets in the same way the U.S. did in Venezuela.
President Donald Trump on Thursday said the United States will be taking Kharg Island "at some point in the not too distant future."
The comments were made in a post on Truth Social, in which the president said the U.S. would be hitting Iran "VERY HARD TONIGHT."
The goal of the proposed operation to take Kharg Island, Trump said, would be to take over Iran's oil and gas markets in the same way the U.S. did in Venezuela.
That operation is "working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America," Trump said.
Kharg Island is a continental island of Iran in the Persian Gulf. It provides a seaport for exporting up to 90% of Iran's petroleum products.
