Trump uses Bitcoin to buy hamburgers in New York
It is not clear how much Trump's purchase at the campaign stop in New York was, but it made him the first presidential candidate to use Bitcoin in a transaction.
Former President Donald Trump used Bitcoin on Wednesday night in order to purchase at least a dozen hamburgers during a campaign stop at a New York City restaurant known for using the cryptocurrency.
The purchase comes after Trump launched a new financial endeavor in the form of a crypto token, via the World Liberty Financial crypto platform on Monday. Trump's family has also played a significant role in the launch.
It is not clear how much Trump's purchase at the campaign stop in New York was, but it made him the first presidential candidate to use Bitcoin in a transaction, according to a Fox News video shared by the former president on Truth Social. Trump handed the burgers out to attendees at the PubKey restaurant.
"One of the most historic transactions in #bitcoin history was just made," the restaurant posted on X. "President [Donald Trump]
buying burgers at [PubKey New York] ... You saw it here first."
The purchase occurred shortly before Trump took to the stage at a rally in Uniondale, New York, where he predicted that he could win the solidly blue state in November.
