President Donald Trump appeared to blame the Democrats for a fall in the stock market after his party suffered devastating midterm losses in the House and Senate.

Democrats took control of both chambers in a Tuesday evening sweep, notching wins in deep-red states such as Texas and South Carolina. The stock market was down on Thursday, which Trump addressed in two Truth Social posts.

In the first, he blamed Democrats and the results, saying its fall was "based on the results of the Election."

"Such a sad thing to watch! It took so much work to get us to a level that no one has ever seen before, and then this," he added.

But in the second, he seemed to blame voters directly, saying "Tuesday — So sad to see, you only have yourselves to blame!"
