AOC condemns Christian Super Bowl ads for making 'fascism look benign'
"Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign."
New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Sunday prompted rebuke from conservatives after railing against Christian ads that ran during the Super Bowl for allegedly making "fascism look benign."
The New York Democrat, however, took exception to the messaging of the ads, tweeting that "Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign."
During Sunday's big game, two ads professing Christian values ran, one entitled "Love Your Enemies," which explained how Christ loves those whom we hate and showed images of people clashing at protests.

The other, "Be Childlike," portrayed helpful children. Each ad cost $10 million according to the Washington Times, and ran as part of the "He Gets Us" campaign.

Conservatives were quick to mock her take on the pair of Christian ads, with some, such as Catholic League President Bill Donohoe suggesting that the lawmaker was "perturbed because one of the organizations supporting the Jesus ads is Hobby Lobby, the evangelical-run store chain that won an important religious liberty victory in the U.S. Supreme Court," according to the Washington Times.
