President Joe Biden's job approval has neared a record low amid ongoing hostilities in the Middle East between Israel and the Gaza-based Hamas terrorist group.

Biden earned a 37% approval rating in the latest CNBC All-America Survey, marking his second lowest performance in that metric of his presidency. 58% of U.S. adults disapproved of his job performance. His record-low point in the survey was 36% approval in July 2022, at which time 57% disapproved of him.

The results are slightly worse than average for Biden, who holds a 41.3% approval rating in the RealClearPolitics polling average, while 55.2% disapprove of him. The RCP metric includes the CNBC survey.

In a head-to-head matchup with former President Donald Trump, he trailed the Republican by 4%, earning 42% support to his predecessor's 46%.

Foreign policy stands as one of the current commander-in-chief's biggest weak spots, with 31% approving of him on the issue overall. 60% oppose his handling of the issue.

Biden visited Israel on Wednesday in a show of solidarity with that country in the wake of a major Hamas raid that saw terrorists seize Israeli border towns, take hostages, and kill civilians. His administration quickly offered support for Israel and he plans to address the American public on Thursday to sell them on further aid for Jerusalem, as well as Ukraine in its struggle with Russia.

Biden's pro-Israel stance is in line with a plurality of Americans, 39% of whom said U.S. foreign policy should favor Israelis over Palestinians. A substantial portion (36%), however, said the U.S. should deal with both factions in an evenhanded manner. 6% wanted Washington to support the Palestinians while 19% were unsure.

Conducted between Oct. 11-15, the survey questioned 1,001 Americans and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1%.
