Biden popularity dips below 40%: poll
Twenty percent of respondents listed the economy as their top concern, while 9% picked crime, 8% said foreign conflicts, and 7% said the environment.
President Joe Biden's approval rating has plummeted in a recent survey, dipping below the 40% mark in the latest cause for concern for the Democratic Party as the first primary contest approaches.
Biden earned a 39% approval rating in the latest Reuters/Ipsos survey, marking a modest decline from the 40% he earned in October. Driving that figure, in part, are heightened voter concerns about the economy, crime, and foreign wars, all issues on which Biden has typically earned low marks.
Twenty percent of respondents listed the economy as their top concern, while 9% picked crime, 8% said foreign conflicts, and 7% said the environment.
The share of respondents most concerned about war doubled from October, amid an ongoing conflict between Israel and the Gaza-based Hamas terrorist group. The survey questioned 1,019 adults online.
Overall, Biden currently maintains a 40.7% approval rating in the RealClearPolitics polling average. A further 55.5% disapprove of him.
