Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., on Tuesday evening attracted criticism over her response to a debate question in which she admitted she was not well-informed on national security.

 "I’m just going to be honest here. I’m not that informed on national security," she said, when asked about the importance of Taiwan to American interests. "National security is not my thing, not my area of expertise, but I do support the military."

Graham was appointed to the seat last month to complete the remainder of her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham's, R-S.C., term. She is running in a special primary against Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., for a full term.

With the runoff set for next Tuesday, Graham has precious little remaining time to make her case to the voting public.
