Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday night warned that the United States could not survive an additional four years of a Biden administration, deeming it a "Weekend at Bernie's presidency."

The remark was a reference to the popular comedy in which the two protagonists attempt to convince people the deceased eponymous character is still alive.

"I am alarmed that the current president of the United States lacks the capability to discharge the duties of his office," he also said. "We need a commander in chief who can lead 24 hours a day and seven days a week."

"Biden is just a figurehead. He's a tool for imposing a leftist agenda on the American people," DeSantis insisted.

He went on to outline the Biden administration's negative consequences, saying "[t]hey support open border, allowing millions and millions of illegal aliens to pour into our country and divert in our community, but just don't send any to Martha's Vineyard then they get really upset."

"They have unleashed progressive prosecutors across our nation who care more about coddling criminals than about protecting their own community," he went on. "They use the unelected bureaucracy to impose their will on us without our consent. And they weaponized political power to target their political opponents like they've done to our own nominee."

He further urged Americans to stand up against such efforts and work to "preserve what George Washington called the sacred fire of liberty."

"Let's make the 45th President of the United States the 47th President of the United States," he concluded.
