DeSantis leads Biden in key swing states: poll
Trump enjoys a commanding lead over his Republican challengers for the party nomination.
Ron DeSantis leads President Joe Biden in two key swing states, a recent poll has indicated, presenting some good news for the Florida governor as he nears a decision on a possible bid for the Republican nomination.
In a recent Public Opinion Strategies survey, the Florida Republican commanded four and three point leads in Arizona and Georgia, respectively, according to The Hill. In Arizona, DeSantis claimed 47% support to Biden's 43% while in Georgia DeSantis took 45% to the president's 42%.
Those results stand in contrast to other matchups between Biden and alternate Republican candidates. Both former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence trailed Biden in each state.
At the stage, however, Trump enjoys a commanding lead over his Republican challengers and other potential entrants to the field, claiming an average 56.0% support for the GOP nomination, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average. DeSantis trails him with 19.9%.
The Florida governor has not officially entered the race but is widely expected to do so in the coming weeks. The polling data showing him competitive in key general election tossup states may help to bolster claims about his electability.
