DeSantis urges GOP candidates to oppose Biden admin aid to Gaza: 'Gift to Hamas'

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday condemned the Biden administration for offering $100 million in humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, calling it a "gift to Hamas" and urging his fellow Republican presidential candidates to oppose the move.
"Joe Biden just announced $100 million of your taxpayer dollars going to the Gaza Strip. They say it's humanitarian assistance; we know Hamas is going to commandeer that money, and Hamas is going to use it to advance terrorism," he said in a post on X. "I say no U.S. tax dollars to the Gaza Strip."
"We still have hostages being held by Hamas. There are American hostages being held by Hamas. How are you funding them when they're holding Americans as well as others hostage? I challenge every Republican running step up to the plate. Join me in opposing Biden's $100 million gift to Hamas," he concluded.
Biden announced the aid during a trip to Israel on Wednesday amid the ongoing conflict between that country and the Hamas terrorists in control of the Gaza Strip, according to The Hill. He had planned to visit Jordan for a summit with Middle Eastern leaders, though the Jordanian government cancelled the summit Tuesday evening amid a wave of anti-Israel demonstrations that swept the Middle East over its alleged destruction of a Gaza hospital.
Israel denies targeting the hospital and claims a rocket from Gaza misfired and hit the hospital's parking lot.
