Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis says 25 of 30 candidates this week won their school board races and that the victories  show parents want change.

"Parents are sick of the nonsense when it comes to education," DeSantis said after the elections.

At least some of those candidates also were endorsed by the 1776 Project PAC, which opposes schools teaching so-called Critical Race Theory, which some argue portrays America as inherently racist.

"Miami Dade is now the LARGEST county in America with a conservative school board majority," the political action committee said.

The group endorsed two candidates for the Miami-Dade County School board, both of whom won.

The victories throughout Florida on Tuesday "shows the desire of parents and residents across the country for some normalcy in our education system," 1776 Project PAC founder Ryan Girdusky told Breitbart.

Although Florida school board positions are officially nonpartisan, seats at more than a dozen school board flipped become conservative-leaning, he also said.

Bridget Ziegler, who won her race in Sarasota County as the school's board went from a 3-2 liberal majority to a 3-2 conservative majority.

"I think Governor DeSantis shined a light on the school boards," she said. "The reality is that you have people across the country and in the state who are engaged and aware that we are fed up."
