University of Michigan commencement interrupted by pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel protesters
“Disclose, divest, we will not stop, we will not rest,” students chanted.
The University of Michigan's commencement was briefly interrupted by a group of pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel demonstrators on Saturday.
Students were seen waving Palestinian flags and chanting in videos circulating on social media.
“Disclose, divest, we will not stop, we will not rest,” the students chanted.
A plane flew over the commencement with a message that read, “Free Palestine” and “divest from Israel now.”
“Regents, regents, you can’t hide! You are funding genocide!” students also chanted, according to The New York Times.
A spokesperson told the outlet that the school has trained staff on how to “manage disruptions."
This demonstration follows anti-Israel protests across multiple college campuses with some students setting up encampments and refusing to leave.
The University of Southern California canceled its primary commencement ceremony due to the protests.
