Retiring Arizona Independent Sen. Sinema say won't pursue third-party presidential run
No Labels has floated Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., and Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan as possible nominees. They all have passed on the idea.
Arizona Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema after announcing earlier this week that she will not seek 2024 reelection says she will not instead mount a third-party presidential bid on the No Labels ticket.
Sinema stated her intentions Thursday to the Bloomberg news outlet. And No Labels stated in a post Thursday on X that Sinema wouldn’t be the group’s presidential nominee.
No Labels has floated former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, retired West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, and former Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan as possible nominees.
They all have passed on the idea, and time is quickly running out for the well funded group to find a candidate.
The group plans a virtual meeting Friday with state delegates to discuss its presidential ticket.
Sinema announced Tuesday that she would not seek reelection in 2024. The Arizona race is now a close contest between Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego and GOP candidate Kari Lake.
