Biden wins Ohio primary that was postponed amid coronavirus crisis
The former vice president is expected to secure the Democratic Party's nomination to challenge President Trump.
Joe Biden on Tuesday won the Ohio Democratic presidential primary that had been delayed amid the coronavirus crisis.
The presumptive Democratic nominee and former vice president is expected to face-off against incumbent Republican President Donald Trump during the 2020 general election.
The Buckeye State's primary was originally slated to take place more than a month ago on March 17 but was pushed back and shifted to a primarily mail-in election, according to the Associated Press.
Ohio will likely prove a key battleground in the 2020 presidential race as the state has swung between Democrats and Republican presidential candidates across multiple administrations. So far during this millennium the state has gone to George W. Bush twice, Obama twice and Trump once.
Biden on Tuesday scored an endorsement from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost Ohio and the 2016 presidential election to Trump. Biden has previously secured endorsements from many of his former 2020 contenders, including Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders who dropped out of the race earlier this month.
