Bill Clinton calls presidential elections a job interview for 'greatest job in the world'
"We the people get to do the hiring," Clinton said. "And every four years, we get to change the requirements to the job."
Former President Bill Clinton on Wednesday night described presidential elections as the "greatest job interview, for the greatest job in the world."
The comment occurred during Clinton's address to Democratic voters during the third night of the Democratic convention in Chicago. His wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, addressed the crowd during the first night of the convention.
"We the people get to do the hiring," Clinton said. "And every four years, we get to change the requirements to the job."
The former president also outlined some questions that he considers when choosing which candidate to support. Those questions include which candidate would best unite the country, and which one would put the needs of the country first.
“In 2024, we got a pretty clear choice, it seems to me,” Clinton said. “Kamala Harris, for the people, and the other guy, who has proved even more than the first go-around that he’s about me, myself and I.”
He continued: “Kamala Harris will work to solve our problems, seize our opportunities, ease our fears, and make sure every single American, however they vote, has a chance to chase their dreams.”
Clinton also praised President Joe Biden's leadership over the past four years, and warned Democrats not to get distracted by "phony issues," claiming they would lose if they did so.
