Ex-FBI Director Comey: 'There's no one else but Joe Biden' for 2024
"The president must be someone who abides the law and our Constitution. And there’s no one else but Joe Biden," Comey said.
Former FBI Director James Comey says that "there's no one else but Joe Biden" who can be president in 2024.
"It has to be Joe Biden, and I’m glad he’s willing to serve," Comey said Sunday on MSNBC in response to a question on whether he would vote for the Democrat president or pick a Republican candidate.
"It has to be somebody committed to the rule of law, committed to the values of this country," Comey said. "The president must be someone who abides the law and our Constitution. And there’s no one else but Joe Biden."
Comey, who was appointed FBI director by then-President Barack Obama in 2013, was registered as a Republican for most of his life. During a 2018 interview with ABC News, Comey said he did not vote in 2016 and had left the Republican Party over his disagreements with then-President Donald Trump.
Comey was fired by Trump in 2017 as he led the FBI's investigation of since-disproven allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election.
Comey's remarks to the media over the past several weeks have angered Republicans. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said earlier this month that Comey is "doing tremendous damage" to the country through the comments he is making on his book tour.
