Sunshine State voters approved a constitutional amendment that will increase Florida's minimum wage to $15 per hour, though the increase will occur over a number of years.

The amendment will boost the state's minimum wage to $10 per hour effective September 30, 2021 and raise it by an additional $1 per hour each subsequent September 30th until it ultimately arrives at the $15 target in 2026.

Thereafter minimum wage increases will be adjusted based on inflation each year beginning on September 30, 2027.

President Trump won the key battleground state again during the 2020 presidential contest after winning it in 2016. The swing state previously went to President Obama in 2008 and 2012.
