Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz on Wednesday said that it would be a foolish decision to cast a vote in 2024 based on former President Donald Trump's hush money conviction.

"I will never cast my vote based on the New York conviction," Dershowitz said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "It's a foolish thing to do. Because the New York conviction is a phony conviction."

Last month, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree for his reimbursement of a $130,000 payment his then-lawyer Michael Cohen made to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump had argued that this lawsuit and lawsuits in other states are part of a political witch hunt, which other GOP politicians have echoed.

"There's no evidence," Dershowitz said. "It was a multiple choice presentation to the jury. We still don't know what the jury decided. What was he guilty of?"

Dershowitz went on to urge others not to vote based on the conviction, but vote based on issues such as the Middle East and the economy.
