The Republican National Committee confirmed that Iowa will remain the first state on the GOP caucus and primary calendar for the 2028 election cycle.

The decision by the RNC’s Presidential Nominating Process Committee, which was approved unanimously, was led by Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann, KTTC reported

Kaufmann said in a statement that he wanted to keep Iowa first and "protect the carve-out system."

"Democrats may have abandoned Iowa, but Republicans under President Trump and RNC Chairman Gruters are committed to ensuring the Iowa Caucuses remain a defining part of the presidential nominating process," Kaufman said.
