Jill Biden heads to Georgia to support Abrams as Kemp surges to 9-point lead prior to election

Jill Biden is heading to Georgia this week to throw the White House's support behind Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, a likely sign of Abrams's worsening outlook as her Republican challenger, incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp, continues to post large leads ahead of her. 

The First Lady will meet Abrams in Atlanta for a political event after a visit to nearby Fort Benning before heading on to Florida for an appearance at an event for the Biden administration's Cancer Moonshot Initiative. 

The heavy support from the White House comes as Kemp maintains a solid lead over Abrams. Election analyst FiveThirtyEight lists Kemp as holding an average roughly five-point lead over Abrams, a lead that has remained largely consistent since February of this year. 

The latest poll surveyed by FiveThirtyEight, performed by the Trafalgar Group, says Kemp is holding a stunning nine-point lead over Abrams with less than a month to go before the election.
