Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to hold separate Univison townhalls
Trump will go first in Miami, which boasts a 70% Hispanic population, on Oct. 8, and Harris will follow on Oct. 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Democratic presidential hopeful Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump agreed on Tuesday to two different townhalls next month, both of which will be hosted by Univision.
The two events will focus on Hispanic voters, and will take place two days apart. Trump will go first in Miami, which boasts a 70% Hispanic population, on Oct. 8, and Harris will follow on Oct. 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The broadcasts will air on their respective nights at 10 p.m. Eastern.
“There are more than 36 million Hispanics eligible to vote in the U.S., making them the largest minority in the country, with the power to influence the outcome of the race for the White House and the future of the nation,” Daniel Coronell, president of Noticias Univision, said in a statement reported by The Hill.
The discussion will be moderated by Univision journalist Enrique Acevedo. The events come after Trump refused to partake in another presidential debate against Harris.
The states that were selected have their respective candidate ahead of the other, with Trump leading Harris in Florida, and Harris narrowly leading Trump in Nevada. The Silver State, considered a swing state, is worth six electoral votes.
