Kamala Harris to announce running mate ahead of Tuesday's Philadelphia rally: Report
The three finalists for the position are Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly. However, Reuters reported that Waltz and Shapiro are the last two standing.
Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's presumptive presidential nominee, is expected to announce her choice for president on Tuesday, ahead of a rally in Philadelphia.
Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee last month, after President Joe Biden dropped his bid for reelection. The president endorsed Harris minutes later, and other Democratic leaders followed suit. She secured enough support from delegates on Friday.
Two sources told NBC News on Monday that Harris and her running mate will campaign at the rally together, and will remain together for the remainder of the week. But the vice president's plans could change if the news is leaked ahead of time, or if she changes her mind, they said.
The three finalists for the position are reportedly Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly. However, Reuters reported that Waltz and Shapiro are the last two standing.
The official announcement is expected to be similar to previous reveals, consisting of video and social media components, and a fundraising plea. Harris and her running mate are also expected to celebrate their ticket at the Democratic convention in Chicago from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22.
Former President Donald Trump announced his running mate on the first day of the Republican convention last month. Sen. JD Vance of Ohio was selected by the former president, and is also expected to campaign in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Trump and Vance also spoke in Georgia like Harris did on Saturday.
